Re: What's To Come
There were basically as many Crane Scout Personalities as Duelists and Courtiers. Indeed, given the explicit dueling Sensei, and the presence of a bunch of Duelists, I'm kind of surprised that duelling is what seems to be most identified as missing. If there was anything I would find lacking in the...

Re: Crane Paths and Kotei Choices
You guys are taking this way too seriously. One, note the repeated use of jokey faces in my lines on this subject. I know there's no tone on the internet, but that's why we've got those emoticon things. The Crane interference was kind of necessary to really make the drama of the whole thing really k...

Re: Crane Paths and Kotei Choices
Respondeat superior , Tacticus. Let the master answer. Some Crane who probably should have been worrying more about the alliance between two of the Crane's traditional enemies got the Otomo to go beyond the scope of an assigned mediation in a deliberate effort to mess up what could have been cool. ...

Re: Crane Paths and Kotei Choices
My guess is that you would be less satisfied than you might think at the Lion scenario you're portraying. There is a conflict between the desire to have the Crane be seen as not being pushovers on the battlefield, and replaying that classic storyline, because an integral part of that classic storyli...

Re: What's To Come
I wouldn't be opposed to a high Chi Dragon duelist. As a Crane, I don't think I can support Dragon having the highest Chi (even at best with the highest Crane), but yeah, you guys should be right up there with us. You guys are our rivals after all. Yeah, and I get that, because the CCG is unstuble,...

Re: What's To Come
And just as soon as the Story Team actually writes a fiction where we see him doing some sort of awesome dueling thing, maybe he'll count (his ability to show up in any for has been hampered, of course, by the lack of a ST last year). I would also accept him just getting printed as the highest Chi D...

Re: Crane Paths and Kotei Choices
I think there is a tendency to conflate and/or confuse "the most honorable" with "goody two-shoes". And that is because the fiction usually does not do a good enough job to explain the difference. It is complicated for a western audience I imagine, even though they seem to manag...

Re: What's To Come
Daramere - A lot of Dragons I've talked to wish they got more monks and fewer shugenja, because they don't see shugenja being that much of a core Dragon thing. What is your take on that, and do you think it equates to Crane scouts? I would agree that monks are more important to Dragon than Shugenja...

Re: What's To Come
But right now we have two Design-stated themes (magistrate honor and artisan dishonor) at the same time that both feel like they should be supplemental themes instead of our only themes. On the one hand, I think you misunderstand the scope and quantity of themes. On the other hand, there's a simila...

Re: Crane Paths and Kotei Choices
I would say that, in general, the story does not portray being honorable as particularly advantageous. Not a Crane-specific thing, but in general. If you want to look at the Crane-Mantis war, for example, you did not see something like (1) other Clans being unwilling to work with the Mantis because ...
